The Empowerment Factory
TEF is a non-profit organization that offers free after-school art classes to low-income students in grades K-12 from Pawtucket, RI.
I refreshed TEF’s brand to engage families, turning ordinary touchpoints like posters and flyers into playful illustration-rich experiences.
Scope:
Branding
The new logo I created for TEF began as a badge for school supplies. I took one of the gears from the old logo and transformed it into a sun. The happy gear complemented other banners and postcards that also incorporated children´s drawings.
Due to the strong reception from children and their parents, the happy gear soon appeared across many of the visuals I produced. Gail, the founder, loved it! Eventually, it became the new logo. Two versions were finalized: one with messaging and one without.
Following this, the overall visual strategy evolved. The new focus was to make the brand more appealing and playful. To ensure consistency, I created a detailed brand guideline covering print and digital applications.
Web Design
TEF runs public art contests, seasonal events, and campaigns like “12 Days of Wishmas” to engage the community and raise funds. I designed all marketing materials for these initiatives, supporting grants and donor outreach. Both digital and print assets were carefully coordinated, as information was distributed in person while enrollment for all offerings was managed through the website.
