Emeline Sprague Studios

Emmy Sprague is a Westchester NY- based interior designer creating layered interiors that mix vintage and modern, informed by her art and architecture background.

I developed a complete brand identity from the ground up for ESS, followed by driving engagement.

Branding

A new monogram and custom typeface. In conversations with Emmy about her vision, she wanted the identity to feel like a blend between vintage and modern design, much like her own work.

Because Emmy loves antique hunting, we began by hunting for vintage typefaces and came across a poster by Walter Breker. We were inspired by the width of the letterforms accentuated by curved tails (especially the letter t). These qualities were then combined with references from Emmy’s designs: recurring curves and circular shapes. The new typeface is also paired with the sans serif font Artifakt Element.

The color palette consists of a primary olive green, paired with two background colors, vintage creme and evening blue, which are used alternatively across the website and other digital material.

Web Design

The new website showcases ESS projects and offers insight into her design practice. Each page features one of the background colors. Many projects, residential and commercial, are currently in progress. As the studio documents each, they’ll be presented in a corresponding page, making an exciting live experience. The final version is built on Squarespace with custom code and offers a responsive experience across devices.

Engagement

ESS new Instagram account, along with Facebook, serves as a key channel for building and engaging an audience. The profile is a personal blog, with posts focused on design inspiration and behind the scenes glimpses of Emmy’s process. I created informational posts in the form of seamless carousels, which are important for an emerging brand to introduce itself. Additional efforts include short-form video content documenting construction progress.
